Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Cyber Security Lead Counsel based either in Dublin, Ireland or London, UK. The position will be responsible for protecting our users and their data by counseling our physical and information security teams, and by building and maintaining relationships with private and public sector entities focusing on Internet safety and security. The position will provide counsel and guidance to Facebook's security teams during investigations, incident response, information sharing and threat mitigation, and work directly with business and engineering teams to design and implement innovative privacy and security solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review and provide guidance on security practices, including applicable controls and certification
  • Counsel teams in developing products with privacy and security by design
  • Develop and refine our cyber security controls, accountability frameworks and incident response processes – including in response to specific regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key cyber security agencies in the region, including the Irish NCSC, UK NCSC, ANSSI, BSI, ENISA, and others
  • Provide counsel on the impact of the EU’s Cybersecurity Strategy and applicable EU laws and regulations on Facebook’s cyber security practices
  • Collaborate with Facebook’s Privacy Law Team and Office of the Data Protection Officer to provide counsel regarding the application of data protection laws and regulations to investigations and cyber security programs
  • Work with investigative and security teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations – including data protection, surveillance, interference and interception
  • Maintain and update security investigation guidelines
  • Provide training to investigation and security teams on legal issues to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Provide support and counsel during investigations to insure they are conducted and documented in an appropriate manner that minimizes risks and protects users' privacy
  • Work with Facebook's security teams and human resources to assess and mitigate insider threats
  • Support efforts to constantly maintain and enhance Facebook's security posture
  • Work with investigation teams to prevent spamming, fraud, malware, and other abuse types on the platform
  • Support Facebook's Bug Bounty Program and Data Bounty Program
  • Support and oversee the Threat Exchange product and other industry information sharing efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Law degree from accredited university
  • Outstanding academic credentials
  • Exceptional communication, writing and verbal skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with law enforcement authorities
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in the field of cybersecurity
  • Extensive knowledge of application of data protection laws and regulations to investigations and knowledge sharing efforts
  • Familiarity and expertise in EU cyber security knowledge sharing models
  • Technical knowledge and experience related to cybercrime and online investigations
  • Experience investigating and/or prosecuting Internet safety and security matters is preferred
  • Expertise in EU national security, law enforcement and cybercrime laws
  • Comfortable in a fast paced, dynamic, start-up culture
  • Willingness to work off hours and overtime, including the weekend and occasionally holidays, in order to support emergency matters and interact with globally based company employees
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to travel frequently within the EU and occasionally outside the EU.
