Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Laws degree or equivalent practical experience;
  • French qualified lawyer, with experience in private practice and/or an in-house team;
  • Ability to speak and write in English and French fluently and idiomatically.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree;
  • Experience drafting and negotiating agreements for technology and media clients;
  • Experience advising clients on structuring complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional transactions;
  • Knowledge of contract, commercial, IP, IT, data protection, and commercial law;
  • Ability to work on a broad range of legal matters.

As a Commercial Legal Counsel at Google, you will work on the most exciting legal issues as disruptive technological innovations require creative and proactive legal guidance. In this role, you will join a whip-smart group of in-house lawyers and the projects and cases you take on challenge you to think big and differently. You are collaborative and ready to partner in initiatives that influence all aspects of the business, working with Googlers from all over the company. As an integrated part of the team, you will proactively assess legal risks and advise on products that will move information into the 21st century and move information law forward as well.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate agreements and adapt templates to comply with local law;
  • Develop experience in a range of Google products and create effective business relationships with business clients and internal stakeholders;
  • Advise operational teams, business clients, and U.S. legal teams on aspects of contract, IP, IT, data protection, consumer, and commercial law;
  • Advise on legal issues and risks, complex agreement structures, and company policies;
  • Serve as a liaison with outside counsel on issues arising under local law.
