EMEA Data Privacy, Cybersecurity & Commercial Counsel

The Role:

Can be based either in Paris, Frankfurt or Luxembourg with reporting to AIG’s EMEA Head of Data Privacy, Cybersecurity and Commercial Legal.

Job Requirements:

  • Drafting, negotiating and reviewing a range of commercial agreements, comprising technology contracts (including emerging technology such as Internet of things (IoT), mobile apps, wearables and artificial intelligence) marketing, corporate real estate, procurement, IP and IT;
  • Coordinating with in-country lawyers across EMEA to interpret and apply multi-jurisdictional advice in a pragmatic and solutions based way. Evaluating legal and regulatory issues, supporting discussions with works councils as well as data protection and financial services regulators as necessary;
  • Advising on EMEA data privacy and security legal requirements in third party contracts, including negotiating and advising on GDPR required contractual terms.Developing and updating data privacy and security template contract and providing counseling on the use of such templates to lawyers in-country, updating the same to reflect changes in business needs and data privacy laws and security regulations, guidance and best practices;
  • Advising on EMEA legal and regulatory issues in relation to internal data access requests, considering privacy, security, contractual, employment and any other relevant legal concerns in order to provide timely and pragmatic advice to business stakeholders;
  • Advising multiple stakeholders across business teams and functions on EMEA legal requirements, including data privacy and security, for new products and services;
  • Working with Compliance, IT and Global Sourcing & Procurement colleagues, developing and providing business partners general and targeted relevant legal counseling and training on appropriate subjects;
  • Managing outside counsel firms and spends as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Several years Post Qualification Experience preferably from a top tier private practice firm or in-house at a multi-national financial services company;
  • Experience in EMEA data privacy laws, regulations and practices, including an understanding of the GDPR;
  • Proficient in French language and dual continental Europe legal qualification preferred;
  • Experience in drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts;
  • Relevant technical certifications such as ISEB or Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP)/Europe preferred;
  • Conscientious and collaborative, with an ability to interact with all levels of the organization;
  • Proactive and innovative approach to problem-solving with an ability to adapt to shifting priorities and meet deadlines.
