Position Purpose

Provide analysis and counsel on legal issues across EMEA (including corporate, commercial, employment and litigation.) Primary point of contact for all transactional legal issues related to the Central and Eastern European, German and Automotive CHEP business. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company. Contribute to the development of company policy and positions on legal issues.

Major/Key Accountabilities

  • Support and become trusted advisor to the Brambles business in EMEA;
  • Advise in relation to customer/supplier contracts;
  • Assist with major transactions (e.g., M&A activity) as needs arise;
  • Provide analysis and counsel on issues to include; proposed new products, protecting intellectual property and assets, compliance and regulatory issues, commercial agreements, outsourcing agreements and business strategic planning;
  • Primary point of contact for all transactional legal issues related to operational matters (e.g., plant operations, logistics and transportation, sourcing, leasing);
  • Provide legal counsel on issues arising from actual or anticipated lawsuits.
  • Contribute to the development of company policy and position on legal issues;
  • Prepare and present legal and compliance training to the business;
  • Support key global functions including Global Information Systems, Global Marketing and Global Technology Operations;
  • Develop and recommend of operating policy and procedural improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree and qualification from an accredited law school.

Experience

  • 2 - 6+ years post qualification experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of local legal system –knowledge of additional European legal system an advantage;
  • Strong interpersonal, presentational and networking skills;
  • Strong analytical and technical legal skills – including drafting, negotiating, risk mitigation and problem resolution;
  • Team player but able to work autonomously;
  • Dynamic, energetic, positive;
  • Prior in-house or large law firm experience preferred;
  • Familiarity with real estate, IP and/or litigation a plus;
  • Familiarity with logistics and supply chain industries a plus.

Languages

  • Business fluency in English;
  • Further languages, particularly German, Russian or French are a plus.
