ClientEarth is seeking an enthusiastic lawyer to work with our Fisheries team on European fisheries management and control. The purpose of the role is to contribute to the legal and advocacy activities of the team on the key pieces of legislation currently under revision and/or implemented at EU level. This includes the implementation and revision of the EU Fisheries Control System and of the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund as well as the implementation of the Common Fisheries Policy. There will likely also be opportunities to pursue litigation strategies in this area.

We are keen for somebody to start by September 2019.

Role requirements

The successful candidate will have a legal background as well as an excellent understanding of the EU decision-making process. He or she will also be able to engage confidently with different audiences and have strong interpersonal skills. He or she will also have an interest and/or understanding of fisheries, biodiversity or environmental issues.
