MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead counsel for the Middle East Africa region;
  • Advising on a wide variety of commercial matters including, contracts, national and regional tenders, corporate/housekeeping, litigation management, manufacturing related issues, product liability, regulatory, marketing and advertising/promotional and competition law matters;
  • Drafting, reviewing, analyzing and negotiating contracts, such as distribution, agency, manufacturing and licensing arrangements;
  • Providing advice in conjunction with other specialist areas such as Ethics and Compliance, Finance, Human Resources, Regulatory Affairs and Quality;
  • Developing a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the Company’s business, its people, markets, facilities, customers and competitors in order to identify trends and formulate appropriate structures and strategies;
  • Establishing a rapport and working relationship with the MEA management team.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Excellent academic record from a Polish law school or other EU Member State law school. In addition and preferably, a post-graduate degree in law from an institution located in a country other than the country of graduation;
  • The successful candidate will be a fully qualified attorney with at least 5 years’ experience with either a major law firm or a mid-to-large size multinational corporate law department preferably in LS industry;
  • Distribution, co-development & commercialization agreements;
  • Pharmaceutical and medical device industry regulations;
  • US FCPA, local codes of conduct and business practices compliance;
  • Company and commercial law;
  • Public Procurement Law;
  • Legal compliance issues especially in Competition/Antitrust Law, HR and ethical matters;
  • Handling of litigation matters and court proceedings related to overdue receivables;
  • Experience or a background working in the life sciences industry is considered a significant advantage;
  • Individuals must be fluent in English;
  • Knowledge of French would be a huge asset.

CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE:

  • Unquestioned integrity and ethics in business and personal conduct;
  • A solid understanding of the European industry environment and business;
  • The ability to diagnose legal problems, and present positive, creative solutions and alternatives for management;
  • Demonstrated experience in providing legal advice in a highly regulated environment;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities;
  • The ability to think like a business executive and facilitate management objectives, yet the willingness to be a “hands-on” lawyer;
  • The ability to work across a matrixed organization and to deal with ambiguity;
  • The ability to drive clear and timely outcomes, while working across diverse operating cultures and working styles;
  • Demonstrated ability to cost effectively manage and direct the activities of outside counsel;
  • Maturity, stature and strong interpersonal skills; one whose counsel and judgment are actively sought.
