As a Junior Legal Counsel – Employment Law, you will be part of the legal team, and provide advice and counsel to the full range of Dutch employment law and human resources practice areas in the Netherlands, working closely with the HR department. You will be reporting to the Director Employment Law.

You will have a strong focus on all Works Council topics. In your role you will also act as the Employee Relations Officer (ERO) of Booking.com. You will be the linking pin between the business, and the WoCo in Amsterdam. The ERO will support the business, the Legal department and the People team with all Works Council related topics and provide an overview on all pending matters, and provide guidance on necessary timelines. The ERO ensures the respect of timelines. The ERO will increase the visibility on roadmaps towards decisions that requires WoCo involvement.

Responsible:

  • Advise: Contribute legal expertise to a wide range of HR activities such as disciplinary actions, organizational changes, employment contracts, dismissals, etc. Provide training to HR department; Align business strategy and corporate activities with local legal requirements;
  • Monitor: You proactively keep up with new legislation and market development to anticipate any upcoming legal change and ensure Booking.com’s compliance, and inform the People department;
  • Build relationships: As the Junior Legal Counsel/ERO it is absolutely key to invest in the relationship with key stakeholders in the business as well as with the Works Council.

Skilled:

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualified experience, specialised in Employment Law;
  • Strong education (Masters Degree) in Law School and admitted to practice law in the Netherlands;
  • Post-academic education and/or experience on employee representation rights is an absolute plus;
  • Demonstrated structured way of working, being rigorous and detailed oriented
  • Hands-on attitude and the ability to test and critically review and read data and evidence.
  • Demonstrated proactivity and aptness at prioritising tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
