Within the Legal Global Function organization of Sanofi, the candidate will be part of the European team of ten lawyers providing legal support to the Research & Development (R&D) organization, stakeholders and sites in Europe.

The candidate will join the team based in Paris (Sanofi headquarter) reporting to a Senior Corporate Counsel who leads a team of two lawyers and a contract manager.

As a Business Partner, the candidate will be responsible for supporting R&D stakeholders in their operations and/or transactions (from Discovery to Phase 4 clinical trials), as well as Sanofi R&D Business Partners supporting R&D external innovation.

Sound legal skills in Intellectual Property law, Clinical Trial regulations and Information Technology law, as well as a scientific acumen and a strong team spirit are keys for this position.

Main Responsibilities

The candidate will:

  • Provide support to Sanofi R&D operations organization, including its global platform in charge of the worldwide conduct of Sanofi clinical trials, especially through his/her contribution to:
    • the definition of Sanofi clinical corporate strategy (e.g.: clinical site retention period, sponsorship policy, eTrial Master File, data privacy, etc.) and its implementation in Sanofi policies;
    • the contribution to a newly created legal network gathering more than 80 country lawyers and/or “contract specialists” supporting the local implementation of Sanofi clinical trials;
  • Draft and negotiate a broad range of complex agreements (e.g.: technology evaluations, research collaboration agreements, clinical collaboration agreements, manufacturing and supply agreements for clinical trials) for the Ablynx research platform (“Next”) and for certain Development Therapeutic Areas;
  • Support the newly created Digital and Data Sciences (“DDS”) platform;
  • Advise and train R&D and business partners on how to manage the legal risks associated to R&D activities;
  • Contribute to workgroups/committees on transversal topics (e.g.: digital partners providing services in the framework of clinical trials);
  • Coordinate with other members of Sanofi Legal Ethics & Business Integrity function, including Sanofi patent department.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Sound knowledge in intellectual property law, clinical trial regulations, digital law and other legal matters that may have an impact on the negotiation of complex pharma R&D agreements;
  • Skills at negotiating and drafting agreements in English and French;
  • Interested in sciences, biology, digital and innovative technologies as required to better support Sanofi therapeutic areas and development platforms;
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision;
  • Ability to explain and discuss legal matters with clients and business partners;
  • Ability to stay up-to-date on new regulations;
  • Business oriented;
  • Ability to manage workload and priorities;
  • Pragmatic, rigorous, proactive.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills
  • Team player
  • Fluency in oral and written English

Qualifications

  • Advanced law degree in healthcare and/or Intellectual Property law
  • At least 5-7 years of legal experience in pharma environment
  • A LLM, the bar qualification and/or a work experience abroad are a plus
