We’re looking for a Senior Privacy Counsel based in Dublin to work on our dynamic and growing Global Privacy and Data Protection team. This person will also serve as Data Protection Officer (DPO) for our affiliate, Pinterest Europe, Ltd. and ensure we are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in Europe. In this role you’ll be a critical part of our global privacy and data governance function. As a Senior Counsel, you’ll advise on our compliance with GDPR and local data protection laws, monitor our adherence to GDPR standards and act as a point of contact with supervisory authorities and data subjects. You’ll also create policies that enforce compliance with legislation and deliver GDPR trainings to our staff to increase awareness of data protection measures. Ultimately, you will facilitate GDPR and global regulatory compliance through transparent data protection policies, systems and procedures.

What you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement data protection strategies in Europe;
  • Act as point of contact with EU residents, supervisory authorities and internal teams;
  • Conduct and review privacy impact assessments and provide privacy advice to business leaders;
  • Drive a culture of privacy and security by design at all levels;
  • Write and update detailed guides on data protection practices, procedures and policies;
  • Track changes in law and anticipate possible changes in operational approach;
  • Identify, evaluate and document the company’s data processing activities;
  • Assist with the management of incident response and any notification obligations.

What we’re looking for:

  • Over 5 years of legal experience representing technology businesses either in-house or at a law firm;
  • Qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction;
  • Significant experience with GDPR and national privacy laws and be familiar with our industry and the nature of its data processing activities;
  • Solid understanding of data management, security and controls and risk management;
  • Experience identifying data privacy themes across multiple regulators, legislative requirements and geographic locations;
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills for a range of diverse and senior stakeholders;
  • Exceptional writing skills and problem-solving skills for the preparation of policies procedure, reports to executive and board, and strategy related documents.
