As part of Penumbra’s legal team, you will support an innovative and global company that develops ground-breaking technology to further its mission of saving patients’ lives. In this role, the Corporate Counsel Europe will have a diverse range of responsibilities, primarily focused on hospital contracts, distribution agreements, subsidiary management and employment matters. This is more than a typical Corporate Counsel position. In this role you will have the chance to create something, rather than to remediate. What You'll Work On

  • Provide pragmatic, business-oriented advice to key department stakeholders in a fast-paced environment;
  • Draft, negotiate and finalize a wide variety of contracts, including distribution agreements, vendor agreements, clinical trial agreements as well as agreements with hospitals and GPOs;
  • Advise on any relevant legal developments in Europe, particularly also in the field of medical devices law;
  • Work closely with outside counsel to advise on commercial and employment issues as they arise;
  • Assist with life sciences compliance matters and help to further develop Penumbra’s compliance system in Europe;
  • Support the formation of international subsidiaries and their corporate maintenance;
  • Help to shape the continuous improvement of contract templates and processes;
  • Make recommendations on ways to structure and grow the support system within the Legal team.

What You Bring

  • Admitted with or having an education allowing admission with the bar of a European country;
  • Seniority level: Associate or Mid-Senior. A minimum of 2 years’ relevant work experience - ideally with some portion of work experience from a large law firm;
  • Hands-on experience in Commercial Law is preferred;
  • Experience working in-house at a medical device, pharmaceutical company or other company in a highly regulated industry, is preferred;
  • Proficiency in English. One further European language is a plus - but not necessary;
  • Strong hands-on mentality, flexible, creative, open-minded and excellent intercultural skills;
  • Ability to process a high volume of work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong contract drafting and negotiation experience;
  • Strong relationship management skills; ability to lead and maintain productive relationships with other functional areas and on a global basis;
  • Personal integrity, good judgment, risk-assessment skills and solution oriented;
  • Proficiency with all types of technology necessary to complete work requirements;
  • Last but not least, you are an excellent team player and thrive when faced with challenges.
