As a Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for driving the legal agenda in one or more of Volvo Trucks’ functions and advising business colleagues on a broad range of legal issues relevant to an international sales organization.

Mission/Scope of Position

The mission of this role is to provide legal advice and support to the Africa, Middle East and Turkey management teams and individual managers on legal issues within the Volvo Trucks organization to support business growth and achieve business goals. This involves translating business strategy into aligned legal and compliance activities and ensuring they are embedded in the business. There is also a key role to play in our legal operations, strategy and compliance team, creating the legal department of the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide commercial legal advice on importer/dealer/distributor relationships;
  • Collaborate with managers to identify legal issues that may impact the implementation of business strategy and ensure legal compliance;
  • Be a key member of relevant management teams and other forums;
  • Deliver training to relevant parts of the organization;
  • Actively contribute to the Legal team of Volvo Trucks, driving initiatives and implementing common decisions within your area of responsibility;
  • Take ownership of a key portfolio within legal operations, strategy or compliance, and champion it throughout the global Volvo Trucks organisation;
  • Be proactive and support all disciplines of legal. Cooperate and coordinate within the Volvo legal community to ensure effective delivery of legal services;
  • Drive the use of best practices, tools, and approaches for efficiency and effectiveness.

Additionally, we think you have the following skills and experience:

  • University law degree and at least 4 years of experience from a business law firm or in-house legal department;
  • Ability to work successfully in a team and with a broad range of client groups;
  • Structured with the ability to create trustful relationships and network effectively;
  • Proactive and solution-oriented with a high level of integrity;
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
