Activision Blizzard King seeks an Associate Director, Legal (Privacy) to join our Legal and privacy team to have a significant impact on our global privacy program. You’ll work with multiple partners, products, services and franchises across the group and will help us maintain and improve our world-class privacy standards.

Your Mission

As a valued member of our cross-group Legal Privacy Team, based in London, you will play a key role in driving the improvement and implementation of our global privacy program across ABK, covering King globally and Activision Blizzard in EMEA, LATAM and ANZ.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Lead various global privacy projects to ensure compliance with new privacy laws and regulations in different parts of the business, including games and marketing
  • Collaborate with international cross-functional teams on a variety of products and services (games, shared & central tech and marketing & advertising teams) to ensure privacy compliance, and advise them on innovative privacy challenges.
  • Manage the group’s GDPR compliance program, including records of data processing activities (ROPA) and various privacy risk assessments including AI, data protection impact assessments (DPIA), legitimate interest assessments (LIA) and transfer impact assessments (TIA/TRA)
  • Prepare, maintain and update privacy documentation, including data protection agreements, standard contractual clauses, and internal policies
  • Apply a risk-based approach to data protection reviews and guidance
  • Keep up to date with changes in laws, regulations and guidelines across the EMEA region and beyond that may impact the design, development and marketing of our products and services
  • Serve as a senior adviser for Customer Support when responding to customers queries related to privacy
  • Prepare and deliver privacy & data protection training when needed
  • Support the EMEA legal team in improving processes, efficiency, compliance framework and standard methodologies and support the team in responding to privacy queries.
  • Manage & support privacy legal counsel role

Player Profile

Experience:

  • PQE 7+ (or equivalent), with experience gained in a similar role, either in a law firm and/or in house, with significant exposure to data protection and privacy issues in Europe.
  • Experience and knowledge of UK and European laws
  • Strong experience advising on data protection & privacy requirements, with an emphasis on use of EU/UK data in a sophisticated market scenarios

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Qualified to practice law in the UK or equivalent
  • Excellent attention to detail, written & communication skills (English)
  • Good understanding of online technologies and their privacy implications
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to identify, prioritize, and resolve issues quickly and effectively in a sophisticated organisation
  • Ability to manage varied workload through proper work balance, prioritisation and delegation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organisation and across group legal teams

Extra Points:

  • Prior experience in the Tech, mobile, video game and/or entertainment industry is appreciated
  • CIPP/E accreditation preferred or any similar data protection practitioner certificate
  • Knowledge of OneTrust software a plus
  • Knowledge of other languages a plus
