Facebook seeks a highly motivated and experienced professional to serve as Cyber Security Lead Counsel based in Dublin, Ireland or London, UK. The position will be responsible for protecting our users and their data by counseling our information security teams, and by building and maintaining relationships with private and public sector entities focusing on Internet safety and security. The position will provide counsel and guidance to Facebook's security teams during investigations, incident response, information sharing and threat mitigation, and work directly with business and engineering teams to design and implement innovative privacy and security solutions. This is a great opportunity to join a growing team and to work on novel issues in an exciting, fast-paced environment. This position is a full-time role located in Dublin or London and would entail international travel.

CYBER SECURITY LEAD COUNSEL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with investigative and cyber security teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations – including data protection, surveillance, interference and interception;
  • Provide support and counsel during investigations to ensure they are conducted and documented in an appropriate manner that minimizes risks and protects users' privacy;
  • Provide training to investigation and security teams on legal issues to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations;
  • Develop and refine our cyber security controls, accountability frameworks and incident response processes – including in response to specific regulatory requirements;
  • Review and provide guidance on security practices, including applicable controls and certification;
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key cyber security agencies in the region;
  • Provide counsel on the impact of the EU’s cybersecurity strategy and applicable EU laws and regulations on Facebook’s cyber security practices;
  • Counsel teams in developing products with privacy and security by design;
  • Collaborate with Facebook’s Data Protection Team and Office of the Data Protection Officer to provide counsel regarding the application of data protection laws and regulations to investigations and cyber security programs;
  • Work with Facebook's security teams and human resources to assess and mitigate insider threats;
  • Support efforts to constantly maintain and enhance Facebook's security posture;
  • Work with investigation teams to prevent spamming, fraud, malware, and other abuse types on the platform;
  • Support Facebook's Bug Bounty Program and Data Bounty Program;
  • Support and oversee industry information sharing efforts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of legal experience, including at a law firm and/or prior in-house experience with internet or technology companies;
  • 5+ years of experience working in the field of cyber security/online investigations;
  • Extensive knowledge of application of data protection laws to cyber security, investigations and information sharing;
  • Exceptional communication, writing and verbal skills;
  • Experience providing practical advice under pressure and prioritizing work;
  • Ability to travel - primarily within the EU.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Expertise in EU national security, law enforcement and cybercrime laws;
  • Experience working with law enforcement authorities and intelligence agencies;
  • Familiarity and expertise in EU cyber security knowledge sharing models;
  • Technical knowledge and experience related to online investigations;
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
