Head of Litigation, EMEA, SEA+AUNZ

We are looking for a highly experienced lawyer to lead a team managing litigation and disputes throughout a large portion of the world covering Europe, Middle East and Africa, Southeast Asia, Australia and New Zealand. This senior-level lawyer will be expected to lead complex and high profile matters. The role will report directly to the Global Head of Litigation & Antitrust.
Responsibilities
- Lead litigation for TikTok and related businesses across Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Southeast Asia, and Australia/New Zealand (SEA+AUNZ), working with and managing external counsel as necessary;
- Lead a team of litigators across various countries, concentrated in the UK and Europe;
- Define and implement litigation strategy across the region;
- Partner and coordinate with other teams within the Global Legal group, and cross-functional teams including government relations and communications;
- Advise internal stakeholders, including leadership from across the business, on litigation and disputes.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer in an EU jurisdiction or in the UK; ideally dual-qualified in civil and common law systems, or possessing extensive litigation experience across multiple European territories with a deep understanding of both civil and common law legal systems;
- Extensive experience in litigation (across both civil and common law jurisdictions) including leadership in complex and high-value claims, cross-border litigation, consumer and technology-related disputes, privacy disputes, and IP-related litigation;
- Significant experience in-house at a technology company or in a related industry with demonstrated leadership experience;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proficient in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organisation;
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to manage a large number and variety of high profile and strategic projects and navigate ambiguous legal and regulatory environments, with experience in crisis management and response handling;
- Ability to work as a team player who can effectively work with colleagues from the Global Legal team as well as other internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and the business;
- High emotional intelligence, maturity and judgment;
- Fluency in two or more European languages is highly desirable.
