We are looking for a driven, ambitious legal individual with a genuine interest in financial technology and payments.

In this role you'll:

Manage the strategy

  • Plan, build and execute against strategic objectives and projects of the Payments Business Unit, including M&A, e-money license or similar strategic initiatives across the Merchant, Payer and PIB portfolio, coordinating with senior management in the Business Unit and in the Office of the General Counsel;
  • Attend senior leadership meetings to discuss strategy and risks relating to payments business initiatives and provide deep dive analysis and recommendations;
  • Be a trusted advisor to the senior management team of the Payments Business Unit ensuring General Counsel is aware and briefed.

Be a trusted legal advisor

  • Lead the legal team supporting the fast-growing Payments Business Unit to deliver a best in class legal service to the business;
  • Ensure that products and processes are developed in a compliant manner working closely with colleagues in the regulatory and compliance teams (Product Counselling);
  • Supervise delivery of advice, support and business-led negotiation on Payment Business Unit agreements end-to-end, covering both customer and partner agreements;
  • Manage disputes, working closely with the Head of Payments BU to develop effective strategies.

Manage external services and operational efficiencies

  • Oversee choice, quality and costs of global portfolio of external counsel, managing relationship with responsible law firm Partner, to control cost and provision of timely advice;
  • Serve as the legal entry point for business transactions, collaborating with subject matter experts on various legal activities such as IP, regulatory constraints, risk assessments, compliance topics including privacy, data and industry affairs;
  • Drive operational efficiency, enhancing legal transaction operations and managing budget contributions.

Lead the team. Manage knowledge and industry expertise

  • Set ambitious team objectives and leverage team skills to achieve business outcomes;
  • Network and represent Amadeus and the Payments Business Unit at a senior level, ideally with connections in the Legal Payments industry;
  • Foster talent, providing coaching and support to rising starts within the team;
  • Stay ahead of legal and regulatory developments, proactively adapting strategies to industry changes.

About the ideal candidate:

  • University legal degree (post-graduate qualification desirable) at a top tier University;
  • 10-15 years relevant post-qualification legal experience;
  • Experience managing teams and solid practice in C-level communications;
  • Deep understanding of payments industry required, including familiarity with applicable regulatory frameworks;
  • English at a proficiency level.
