About the Role

As a part of our General Counsel team, you’ll have the opportunity to shape and develop the practice from the ground up. You’ll work closely with startup founders and decision-makers, providing tailored legal solutions that help them navigate complex challenges.

What you will be doing

Strategic advisor: Be the primary legal contact for multiple customers on the forefront of tech and fintech innovation, offering strategic guidance and managing day-to-day legal needs. You will be responsible for key areas including corporate law, basic regulatory compliance, IP, contracts, and HR, depending on your specific expertise. You’ll provide strategic insights during corporate discussions, manage contract practices, protect intellectual property, and navigate employment matters. Additionally, you’ll address basic regulatory concerns and offer ongoing support for day-to-day legal needs just like a General Counsel would do but without the constraints of tending to the legal needs of just one company full time;
Practice Shaper: Contribute significantly to the development of our GC practice, bringing new ideas and solutions to our customers. Support our Corporate and Commercial practices in their further development;
Entrepreneur: You have an idea on what you want to work on? Your thoughts and your feedback are not just valued, they are essential. We want you to be an entrepreneur, developing business opportunities with us together, establishing products and processes that fit the needs of our customers;
Direct Customer Engagement: Work directly with startup founders and leadership teams, providing actionable and practical legal advice;
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with LEXR’s teams across Berlin and Switzerland, including LegalTech, operations, marketing, and HR, to deliver comprehensive legal support.

What is required

Fluent German and English: You’ll work with both local and international customers, primarily focusing on the German market. Fluent German skills are essential.
Experience: You have at least three years of experience working at a large law firm and as in-house counsel at a startup, tech company, or scale-up. You are looking for a role that combines both environments;

Location: Although we encourage remote work from time-to-time, this position requires you to be mostly in Berlin. You will help setting up a team of new people and occasionally engage physically with the companies you’re supporting as a GC. However, you will have full discretion on when you feel that working from our office suits your and your clients needs best;

Thus, you need to be comfortable in trying to understand our clients’ needs apart from solving a legal problem and keep business operations in mind when thinking about the solution that works best for the client;
IT Affinity: We are 99% digital and constantly test new tools to enhance our work environment and customer experience. Proficiency in MS Office is required, and additional IT skills are a plus.
