This role will involve engaging with regulators globally in relation to substantive competition law matters and policy work and ensuring successful approvals of M&A transactions, development and maintenance of strategies and policies in compliance with global competition rules.

In the competition law team we provide advice on a global scale and also for that reason we see diversity as a genuine source of strength.

Key Responsibilities

As legal counsel in the Competition Law and Policy Team you will – both on your own and together with other members of the global Competition Law and Policy team - be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the Maersk businesses, including the ocean business, logistics and terminals, to ensure compliance with global competition rules.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic and day-to-day competition law advice and solutions on projects and initiatives promoted by the business to ensure any potential competition law and merger control implications are considered and accounted for in developing new strategies, policies, products.
  • Cooperating with and coordinating responses to competition regulators.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with relevant authorities.
  • Handling competition law investigations globally, assessing and coordinating merger control filings
  • Assisting the competition compliance team with the implementation, maintenance and development of the competition compliance program
  • Developing and providing competition law training to employees at all levels in the organization worldwide.

Who we are looking for

  • You have solid expertise in various areas of the field of competition law and at least 5-8 years of experience from a law firm, in-house, a competition authority, or other relevant employment, focused primarily on competition law.
  • This role involves collaborating with and understanding the business.
  • You should have a genuine interest and curiosity towards understanding the business and have extensive interpersonal and communication skills.
  • As a specialist legal support function, it is important to understand the business and to deliver legal solutions that ensure competition law compliance and at the same time supporting the needs of the business.
  • You are solutions oriented and are both able and comfortable sparring with the business in finding workable solutions and providing clear recommendations.
  • You enjoy working as part of a team and enjoy sparring with your colleagues. You are also comfortable working independently and prioritising your tasks but you also know when to ask for help.
  • You are analytical and thorough, and you can keep a clear mind in a busy and dynamic environment.
  • We work in English, therefore an excellent command of written and spoken English is a prerequisite.
