Tasks

The Labor Relations & Future of Work department is part of the Human Resources division of the Mercedes-Benz Group. We are responsible for all labor and social law advice to the HR functions as well as for the conception and further development of future-oriented and attractive working conditions in the Mercedes-Benz Group. As the interface to the General Works Council and Group Works Council, our department coordinates various labor policy issues, advises on the implementation of co-determination and supports the Board of Management in all collective bargaining issues. By defining uniform guidelines on fundamental labor and social law issues, we lay the essential foundations for Group-wide processes.

Together with the team, you will act as an expert, enabler, initiator and regulator on labor law and policy issues. You will work closely with the strategic HR business partners and HR consultants and represent the HR department in various committees, projects and initiatives.

You can expect a broad and varied range of tasks with a high degree of creative freedom and personal responsibility.

You will face the following challenges in particular:

  • You will provide individual and collective employment law advice to the HR functions;
  • You will accompany labor court proceedings in cooperation with employers' associations and external lawyers;
  • You are (co-)responsible for a uniform and practice-oriented framework in operational labor law and labor policy issues;
  • You are the point of contact and link between local HR colleagues and the relevant interfaces on fundamental labor law and labor policy issues;
  • You formulate works agreements and accompany corresponding negotiations with the local works council committees and the general and Group works councils;
  • You conduct training courses on employment law;
  • You independently prepare legal opinions.

Qualifications

Ideally, you should have these qualifications and skills:

  • Completion of the first and second state law exams with above-average results, ideally with a focus on or experience in employment law;
  • Very good knowledge of English;
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office;
  • A keen sense of the relevance of legal issues to HR policy;
  • High level of communication skills;
  • Ability to present specialized topics in an understandable way, even to legal laypersons;
  • Strong negotiating skills and the ability to understand the interests of the other party;
  • Confident manner in dealing with internal and external partners.
