Scope

As Senior Legal Counsel in the EMEA legal team, you will provide legal support and guidance to key stakeholders in the EMEA region.

The legal department is organized by regions (EMEA, NAR, LAR, APAC), each having a regional General Counsel reporting to the Group General Counsel.

You will report to the EMEA GC like the other lawyers of the EMEA legal team.

Responsibilities

You are joining the business at an exciting time, when there are some very significant projects to deliver in the EMEA region. Innovation is key to the business objectives, meaning no two days are ever the same. You will support the EMEA GC and the rest of the global legal team in the delivery of high-quality legal services, and legal risk management. Working closely with the business teams, you will understand the needs and objectives of the business, in order to deliver commercially-focused advice and deliverables.

Your role will also include:

  • Managing and mitigating risk through the enforcement of our Global Contracting Principles;
  • Assisting in the definition of our developing product offerings;
  • Supporting our global procurement team to buy quality products and services;
  • Working closely with our compliance team to ensure we meet our legal obligations.

Experience/Skills

Graduated with a Master’s degree in law and/or LLM, you have an extensive professional experience (at least 5 years) as a lawyer with solid knowledge in IT contract law and commercial law, ideally in the payments ecosystem or fintech company. You are a well-rounded professional and acquired this experience in an international environment within an industrial/tech company.

Technical skills:

  • Qualification in commercial business law required.

  • Business orientation, able to deliver commercially-focused advice;
  • Strong team spirit, supportive of others’ contributions - Good ability to work as a team with operational staff and with other members of the Global legal department;
  • Strong adaptability and flexibility;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and French (the drafting and negotiation of contracts is carried out primarily in the English language). (Fluency in Italian or Spanish is an advantage).
